NCLEX Client Needs Categories: Where to Focus

July 24, 2026

Physiological Integrity is the biggest category

Physiological Integrity — covering basic care and comfort, pharmacological therapies, risk reduction, and physiological adaptation — is typically the largest of the four Client Needs categories, so it deserves proportionally more of your study time.

Don't neglect the other three

Safe and Effective Care Environment, Health Promotion and Maintenance, and Psychosocial Integrity are smaller but still meaningfully represented — and because the test is adaptive, weakness in any category can affect your outcome. Aim for solid competency everywhere, extra depth in Physiological Integrity.
